Program Description
The Certificate of Achievement, Fire Science Technology is designed to give individuals the background knowledge to work within a fire service organization and may lead to certification in basic wildland firefighting. Students interested in acquiring the Certificate of Achievement, Fire Science Technology must complete the general education and emphasis requirements.

Program Requirements
Certificates of Achievement are a set of courses that can serve as a stepping stone to an associate degree or allow students to enter the workforce. Certificates of Achievement have a general education component.
To earn a Certificate of Achievement, students must:
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 (see requirements for graduation.)
- Complete a minimum of 15 semester credit hours within the college.
- Satisfy General Education requirements for the Certificate of Achievement.
- Have no financial or library obligation to the college.

ENG 100 or ENG 101 is required to complete the BAS, Emergency Management unless you place directly in to ENG 102.

MATH 120 or higher is required to complete the BAS, Emergency Management.

EMS 108 or equivalent strongly recommended.
The curriculum follows National Wildland Cooperation Group standards.
FT 101 or 102 or 6 months fire experience needed to enter Fire Academy.
