TLS Course Student Learning Outcomes

TLS 101 - Tile Setter Apprentice I

Students will be able to accurately construct basic projects, demonstrating their knowledge of materials, tools and equipment.

Students will be able to apply existing knowledge with practical skills gained on the work site.

Students will be able to demonstrate the proper use of hand tools in the execution of basic tile setting as well as knowledge of MSDS.

Students will be able to be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, common fractions and decimal fractions when solving applied technical problems.

Students will be able to use units correctly and convert between metric and standard units of measure.

Students will be able to use a variety of precision measuring instruments correctly when inspecting mechanical components.

Students will be able to utilize multiple modes of communication towards enhancing effectiveness in the work environment.

Students will be able to communicate accumulated technical data effectively with co-workers to apply that information toward completion of work assignments.

TLS 151 - Tile Setter Apprentice II

Students will be able to accurately construct intermediate wall and floor projects, demonstrating their cleaning, sealing and finishing skills.

Students will be able to apply existing knowledge with intermediate skills gained on the work site.

Students will be able to demonstrate intermediate tile setting skills and knowledge.

Students will be able to use intermediate mathematics in the completion of sheet metal applications, including conversion of fractions and percentages, area calculations, including applied algebra, applied geometry and trigonometry.

TLS 201 - Tile Setter Apprentice III

Students will be able to accurately construct advanced wall and floor projects, demonstrating their ability to read blueprints at an advanced level.

Students will be able to apply existing knowledge with advanced skills gained on the work site.

Students will be able to demonstrate advanced tile setting, layout and material estimating skills.
